Al Zaytuna University is one of the government universities in Libya. It was established in 1986 by Decree No. 46. It was formerly known as Nasser International University and later changed its name to Al Zaytuna University. The university's colleges are located within the geographical boundaries of Tarhuna municipality, as well as the Al-Awata and Sidi Al-Sayeh areas. The university awards bachelor's degrees in various scientific disciplines, as well as master's and doctoral degrees in some specialties.

Founded
Established as Nasser International University pursuant to Decree No. 46.
Renamed
Rebranded to Azzaytuna University, reflecting its regional identity.
Expansion
